Orania Berlin Experience – Luxury in Kreuzberg
The capital offers a variety of luxury hotels, from grand hotels to modern design hotels. Most of them are located in Berlin’s luxury districts or on the luxury shopping streets such as Kuhdamm or Friedrichstraße. Berlin-based Michael Kern, who revealed his Insider tips for luxury in Berlin, recommended a brand new and unusual boutique hotel:
The Orania.Berlin, located in the heart of Kreuzberg. It has been a sensation since its opening in August 2017. At first sight, the sister hotel of the famous Schloss Elmau is out of place in the neighborhood. Some journalists have reported in a less than neutral tone about the hotel and also some residents of the neighborhood threw color bombs or broke windows.
I am not from Berlin. I do not presume to fully understand or evaluate this discussion about the hotel in its place. Currently, Kiez and Luxushotel seem to have made peace and the neighbors are opening up. But what I can describe with full conviction, honesty and frankness, is my impression of the Orania Berlin and I can tell you: I liked it a lot!
Schloss Elmau Feeling in Berlin.
Anyone who has ever been a guest in Bavaria in the famous Schloss Elmau immediately feels the connection. From the fabric with the typical elephant pattern to the furnishing style to the ever-burning fireplace, the style is simply unmistakable. Even the smell in the corridors reminds me of a Bavarian castle. Even if you have not been a guest of the castle so far, the interior is pleasing: warm colors, fine materials and a living room atmosphere create a cozy homeliness.

Orania Berlin, the Other Luxury hotel.
In addition to the location, which already makes the hotel unique, it also differs conceptually from many other buildings in this class. The team wears sneakers, is young and very professional! Rarely have I experienced such a relaxed and, at the same time, perfect service. But not only the employees are special here. The guests, whether they are bar visitors, restaurant guests or house guests, are remarkable in their composition. The typical Berlin style type with hoodie and sneakers sits next to suits at the bar, while the fire crackles in the background. What normally doesn’t fit together, here it blends in harmony. I enjoy this very much, since my motto is: luxury travel without unnecessary splendor and allure!
Orania Berlin – A Stage for Berlin´s Artists.
Another special feature of the Orania Berlin and similar to Schloss Elmau’s concept: the almost daily concerts in the salon or at the Steinway in the bar provide a stage for Berlin’s artists. Culture fans are offered a wide program of classical, jazz and world music. The salon also offers a stylish setting for private celebrations:
Orania Berlin – Restaurant Experience.
Bar and restaurant are intertwined and there is a cozy atmosphere here. It’s currently midweek and both bar and restaurant are full. I choose a seat right at the heart of the restaurant. I’m a fan of open kitchens and can spend the whole evening with the chefs – especially star chef Philipp Vogel – and watch their craft.
I start with winter beetroot, goat cheese and green (durum) wheat. Then I opt for shrimps, onions and crustacean fumet. Finally, I dip into a chocolate cake from an oven dreamland. Imagine I’m so blown away that I completely forget to photograph the dessert. Definitely one of the best hot chocolate cakes I’ve ever eaten. And I have tasted many of them.
My Orania Berlin Experience.
The Orania.Berlin is like an oasis of peace in the big city. I really like the service, ambience, atmosphere and performance. The hotel also offers a small gym, as well as massage and beauty treatments.
The rooms and suites are between 170 and 450 Euro per room including breakfast.
