Can Simoneta – Boutique Hotel by the Sea
Finding a hotel with a view of the sea on Mallorca is certainly not difficult. But let’s be honest: Do you really want to live in one of these huge “bed bunkers”? Five stars do not guarantee style and the declaration of „luxury hotel“ says absolutely nothing about the charm of a house.
You also like small and fine hotels with that certain something, don’t you?
Then Fratuschi is your place to be! I am happy to present you my new discovery of a real pearl on Mallorca: the Boutique Hotel Can Simoneta right on the sea.
Can Simoneta – Location & Place
From Palma, you can drive by rental car across the island for about one hour to Capdepera on the east coast.
Popular with families and pensioners, Canyamel is one of the quieter and smaller seaside resorts on Mallorca, where time has almost stopped since the 1990s.
Apart from the usual inflatable swimming animals and other worthless stuff, it’s impossible to successfully hunt for some gems in the few shops of the small shopping street. For a great shopping tour, I recommend an excursion to Palma. Four miles away is the famous holiday resort Cala Ratjada, but you won’t notice the party people in Canyamel.
The bay of Canyamel is protected to the northeast by Cap Vermell, where the Arta Caves are located, and to the southwest by Cap des Pinar. I was surprised by the Torrente de Canyamel. The freshwater river, with its three-foot-high bamboo vegetation on the banks, ends at the beach and is more reminiscent of a wetland in Asia.
I don’t want to conceal from you that at Playa de Canyamel, unfortunately, there are a few medium-sized specimens of these soulless hotel bunkers, and I can’t describe the beach as picturesque either.
But don’t let that bother you because the Hotel Can Simoneta is lofty on the cliffs and from there the view is simply breathtaking.
Mallorca – Luxury Hotel by the Sea
The entrance to the hotel grounds is pretty but at first glance unspectacular. However, this impression changes as soon as you enter the building and can already imagine the legendary view from the reception. The adults-only hotel has no more than 28 rooms and suites in three different houses. The manor house and stables of the former agricultural finca have been converted into tasteful hotel rooms which, despite their contemporary design, exude classic Majorcan charm.
Disconnect & Enjoy
As beautiful as the rooms are, I’m attracted to the 12-acre garden. The view of the sea, as well as the Bay of Canyamel, is simply magnificent. Between pines and other typical Mediterranean plants, you will find niches with eddies and whirlpools everywhere. Here you can be all to yourself. Wonderful silence. No noise. No music. Only the sound of the sea and a few birds, as well as a yacht sailing by from time to time.
At the small wall, a narrow spiral staircase hewn into the stone goes down to the water. When the sea is calm, you can climb into a natural pool or directly into the open sea.

You’d rather do your laps in a real pool? Then you have two different options at Can Simoneta. Near the main building, a heated pool invites you to swim. There you can also use the service of the restaurant.
Or walk down the path through a small pine forest and find a large infinity-edge pool.
Mallorca – Hotel by the Sea
Now we are almost at sea level as we walk a little further down and towards Playa de Canyamel. Here I would like to introduce you to the third accommodation of the hotel: the Beach House.

Right next to the Beach House, there is a gate right into the beach and the water. In Mallorca, this is probably the closest you can spend the night by the sea.
Breakfast & Dinner by the Sea
I love it when I can enjoy breakfast outside with a view of the open sea.
The many small, lovingly arranged delicacies, from savory to sweet, make it difficult for me to restrain myself. I just want to try everything.
The enchantment starts in the morning is confirmed in the evening: The Can Simoneta has a great restaurant. You can also reserve a table as a walk-in guest.
Mallorca Hotel by the Sea: Pleta de Mar
Also a hotel exclusively for adults, the sister hotel opened in 2017 only 600 feet away. As a guest of the Can Simoneta you can also use the two pools, the bar and the restaurant. The Pleta de Mar, with its suites in the middle of a wonderfully dense pine forest, is more modern and stylish.
The focus here is on nature and the region. Whether the interior decorations, services in the spa or dishes in the restaurant, Mallorcan materials and ingredients are favored. Don’t even think about losing weight when you go the barbecue restaurant „Foc“. The food is absolutely delicious! My recommendation: try the beef tartar prepared at the table.
By the way, the Porxada de Sa Torre restaurant, a traditional suckling pig restaurant, is only a 5-minute drive away. The hotel offers a driver service to the restaurant and you can also try the tasty Mallorcan wine there. It’s worth it.
My tip: no matter how full you are, try the almond cake!
Boat Trip to the Sea
The hotel invited me to a picnic on a boat. With a Chris-Craft motorboat, we leave a small port on the Costa des Pins. The boat reminds me of the classic Riva boats from Italy. Very chic, with lots of wood and decent engine performance. Almost as fast and maneuverable as a jet ski. We go north. The sea is restless with waves up to five feet high. Since I am not quite seaworthy, we decide to return and anchor in the protected Bay of Canyamel. The water is incredibly clear and colorful fish swim along our boat. After a refreshing round in the sea, I enjoy tapas in the sun and let my soul dangle. I could live like this forever!
Hotel Can Simoneta – Experience
Peace, lightness, pleasure and the continuous view of the sea. Myself, as I write these words, I want to go back. And the personal and cordial service, which really left nothing to be desired! This boutique hotel on Mallorca is a very special place that hardly exists elsewhere. I recommend the Can Simoneta for those who love peace and quiet, connoisseurs, and those who are addicted to a view of the sea. I’ll be back!
